He's here!!!

Baby and I are doing well and are adjusting to life at home with Daddy.
I am so in love with this little man already.

I'm hoping to post his birth story and past pregnancy updates within the week-
although, it will realistically take much longer :)

30 weeks

30 weeks, 1 day
How far along?  30 weeks, 3 days
Size of baby?  cabbage, about 3 pounds
Weight Gain?  At my 28 week appointment, I had packed on 16 pounds since getting pregnant.  I feel ok with that number, and assume i'll continue to put on at least 1 pound per week until I deliver.  As long as baby is healthy, the weight doesn't bother me.
Sleep?  Different every night. Most nights it's really hard getting to sleep, and i'm up at least once ever hour or two to potty or walk for a minute since my hips hurt so bad.  Sleep definitely isn't getting better, generally worse.
Best Moment of the Week?  Getting closer to getting the baby room completed.  We finally found the perfect gliding rocker/book shelves/and a giant map for the wall.
Miss Anything?  Where do I begin?  I miss coffee, changing positions without grunting, an empty bladder, exercise, and feeling comfortable.  Not to mention, sleeping on my back.
Movement?  Baby loves to move!  There were a few days last week where baby had me worried because his/her movements decreased and were much softer.  Although I still managed to always get over 10 kicks/hour, it was so out of the ordinary for this baby.  I'm going to have a wild one on my hands!  Baby must have just been resting and taking a break because the non-stop kicks, rolls, and jabs are back and I love them!  This baby is sitting really low, so I often get surprise kicks to the bladder, butt, and my other lady parts.  I am starting to notice definite wake/sleep patterns.  Baby generally waits to wake up until he/she hears Aaron and I talk in the morning, and then spends most of the morning and afternoon with 30 minute periods of lots of movement followed by 30 minutes of sleep.  Baby is most active after dinner until we go to sleep (which has been around 1am).  He/she will dance around for about 10 minutes once i'm in bed, but always calms down shortly after.
Food Cravings?  still chicken.  And pork chops (which is so strange since I NEVER want pork ever).  Also donuts.  What am I really eating?  Lots of chicken, smoothies, oatmeal, veggie soup, strawberries, chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream.  Sadly, eating anything has been a struggle since I have had such horrendous heartburn.  I love food, so this just sucks- especially since I have to eat no matter how uncomfortable it makes me.
Gender?  We have decided to keep the gender a surprise!
Exercise?  I try to get to the gym 4 days/week.  My "workouts" consist of walking on the treadmill and a 20 minute session on the elliptical.  Although, if i'm being honest, i'm starting to give up on exercise- it's just so exhausting and uncomfortable.
Symptoms?   The 3rd trimester has been difficult.  I was lucky with an easy 1st and 2nd, but the 3rd is down right painful.  Indigestion, heartburn, headaches, crippling hip and back pain, fatigue, insomnia, etc.  Symptoms get worse as the day progresses, so by the time it's time for bed I just want to cry (and sometimes do) because everything hurts.  Baby's kicks and rolls (which can be painful sometimes too) are the only thing keeping me sane.  I also had what I thought was preterm labor contractions yesterday- scariest moment of my life.  Sudden unbearable pain that made it hard to breathe, let alone talk.  I thought this baby was coming at 30 weeks- one of my biggest fears.  My midwife said it sounded more like severe muscle spasms, and to relax with a bath.  Thankfully, these "contractions" went away after about two hours.   My hair and nails are also growing like crazy!  Thankfully no crazy swelling- yet.

Looking forward to?  Baby shower in 3 weeks!!!
Next Appointment?  Two weeks.

despite being horribly uncomfortable, I am so thankful for this baby in my belly.  That doesn't mean I LOVE being pregnant, though.  It is well worth the pain, discomfort, and irrational fear that something is going to go wrong, but I am so thankful for each day that passes and the closer I get to baby's due date.  I just want my baby in my arms- pooping, crying and driving my crazy with a whole new set of fear and worry.

23 weeks

oh yeah, see those shorts- I never take them off.

How far along? 23 weeks, 5 days (photo taken 3 days ago)
Size of baby?  Grapefruit. Baby is just over a pound.
Weight Gain?  At my 20 weeks appointment, I had gained 9 pounds. Almost a month later, i'm going to guess i'm close to the 14 pound mark.
Sleep?  Different every night.  I had one really amazing night sleep this week.  Every other night i've tossed and turned a lot.  Not to mention the 4-6 potty breaks.  However, I did invest in the Snoogle body pillow here and it's amazing!
Best Moment of the Week?  Feeling baby move around while cooking dinner.  Up until this point, I only felt baby dance when I was sitting and laying.  
Miss Anything?  Cool weather.  No, the weather is not my pregnancy's fault, however, spending more than 30 seconds outside is miserable.  Other than that, I just really miss coffee.  
Movement?  oh yes. some days more than others, but currently baby is moving all.the.time.
Food Cravings?  Nothing crazy.  I had a few days where all I wanted was chicken.  The other night I wanted vanilla ice cream.  Also fantasizing about chocolate cake- good thing my birthday is coming up!  We ate kangaroo tacos last night which really hit the spot.  In general, food either tastes a million times better, or does nothing for me at all.
Note: since being pregnant, I have decided to start eating meat again- clearly, this includes kangaroo.  For some, this may be a bit taboo, but it is actually much more environmentally friendly than cow meat and is quite lean.
Gender?  We have decided to keep the gender a surprise!
Exercise?  Well, the treadmill in our apartment complex broke, and has stayed that way for nearly a month.  I will get on the elliptical on occasion, but I mostly try to take six 10 minute walks a day.  It's been too hot outside to do much more.  I am not an early riser, so getting up before it gets too hot just isn't an option- it is the last time i'll be sleeping in for a while, after all.  I try to do squats as much as possible, but my knee has been acting up.  Basically, i'm a mess and I feel like an 80-year-old lady.
Symptoms?   Sleepy. Headaches have subsided, thank goodness.  My abdominal muscles feel like they are slowly be stretched and torn apart- seriously, seriously uncomfortable and sometimes quite painful.  Some indigestion and sleeping difficulty.

15 weeks

How far along? 15 weeks, 4 days (photo taken yesterday)
Size of baby?  Apple
Weight Gain?  No idea.  I was weighed at 7 weeks and 12 weeks and there was no weight change.  I'll find out at my appointment next week how much I've gained.  I'm going to guess 3-5 pounds.
Sleep?  Getting better.  The first 14 weeks were hell.  In fact, insomnia was my first indication that I was even pregnant.  I still get up 3-4 times to potty, but that is a huge improvement from the 6-7 times I was going before.  Sleeping on my side is also really hard. I love to sleep on my back.
Best Moment of the Week?  Finally starting to feel like i'm showing a little.  Until now, I just looked like I've been eating too many burgers and drinking too much beer. 
Miss Anything?  Ibuprofen. smoked salmon. coffee.  Even though I can technically have tylenol and limited amounts of caffeine, I am so paranoid about baby being healthy, that I won't do it- not even a little.  I also really miss having energy.  Workouts are harder and my body just aches.
Movement?  Nope.
Food Cravings?  Cravings come and go.  I've been wanting apple pie and pastries. Also, cheese- not necessarily alone, but cheesy foods- bagels with cream cheese, quesadillas, mac n cheese, cheese burgers. Also, cherries and pineapple. Can't get enough fruit!   During the first trimester all I wanted to eat was chicken and grapes.  I ate so much chicken, I've decided to take a little break.
Gender?  We have decided to keep the gender a surprise!
Exercise?  Up until this past week, I was really good about walking 3-5 miles 6 days a week.  This week i've been a little busier, had worse headaches, and just more tired, so I've only made it to the gym twice.  I was also jogging a few days a week up until two weeks ago.  Although I can still jog, I feel safer walking.  My balance is less predictable these days.  My goal is to start prenatal yoga in the next month. 
Symptoms?  Headaches and fatigue.  Also, "growing pains".  You never really hear about all the pulling, stretching, throbbing, and aching that will go on in your lady parts when you get pregnant. It scared me at first, but now it's a welcome indication that baby is growing.  Mostly, I just feel like an old lady some days.  My 4 mile walks feel like 15 mile runs- literally.  My hips ache, back hurts and I just don't want to move.
Belly Button In or Out? In. However, it is definitely changing shape.
Looking forward to?  Feeling baby move.
Next Appointment?  Next week! Can't wait to hear baby's heartbeat again!  Since we are going as natural as possible, we haven't had an ultrasound yet- and will only have one at 20 weeks.  Thankfully, I love my midwife and trust her completely!

back with some very exciting news...

It's been months since my last blog post.
Honestly, I wasn't sure if I'd ever post on this little space of mine again.
Since moving back to California from Germany in July, 
I've lacked both motivation and inspiration to write my thoughts down.

but, I have some news too exciting not to share.
News I've wanted to announce for weeks!!!

After months and months and MONTHS of trying,
the fiance and I are expecting.
We are over the moon excited.
I will be 13 weeks on Saturday,
and feel so very blessed.

I can't promise that i'll be back to blogging everyday from this point forward.
I've made that promise before, and it was a lie.
But, it is my new hope and goal.
I still have travel stories, recipes and random thoughts that would be well suited for this blog,
and of course, baby updates!!!!
