This weekend was the fiance's Birthday.
Since funds are low over in my neck of the woods, I couldn't plan anything crazy for his birthday this year. I did, however, make him one amazing dinner.
Something you should know- the fiance and I really don't like going out to eat at restaurants. If given the choice we will almost always choose to stay home and cook something ourselves.
1. We're cheap.
2. We're pretty good cooks. We like to add and subtract exactly what we want. Plus, restaurants never make things spicy enough- no matter how much we beg.
3. We like to know exactly what we are eating. The only exception to this will be taqueria burritos- in this case I never want to know the truth.
4. We're cheap.
For his birthday, I decided I would eat steak.
But, only organic grass fed cow from Whole Foods.
Just so you know, this decision was really hard for me. I am perfectly happy never eating beef again.
But, he's been bugging me to eat red meat for months. According to him, my iron levels are too low.
I doubt it.
But, it was his birthday, so I decided to appease him.
We got almost 2 pounds of tri-tip happy cow, tons of roasted veggies and mashed potatoes.
Since I always need something sweet after dinner, we topped off our full bellies with a slice of marion berry pie.
BEST PIE EVER.
Oh, and the tri-tip was wrapped in bacon.
I'm in denial about this.
Yesterday, we visited Folsom Lake.
We were itching to get out of the house.
I hope all of you had a great weekend!
