february is the new spring...

Anyone else think the weather has been crazy?
I do.
It's been crazy.

I can't decide if I like it.
The sun is nice, but sometimes we need some gloomy days to fully appreciate all that it gives us.

I mean, this is some serious global warming.
Which makes my mind spin out of control,
leading me to think that the world really is coming to an end.
(I realize that this isn't exactly rational, but I can't help it).

Despite these completely ridiculous fears
(I hope)
I have been trying to enjoy the beautiful world we live in.

The birds, flowers, trees, grass...
Such lovely things that I often take for granted.

I'm trying to see things differently.
Sometimes, the little things really are the big things...

I hope all of you have a beautiful week.

Spain- Toledo and Segovia

A year and a half ago the fiance and I had to make a decision-
where did we want to spend our Winter holiday?

Deciding where we want to go is always the hardest part of trip planning.
We both want to go everywhere.

For this trip, however, I knew I wanted to go somewhere in Europe.
I was employed and had spent the past several years dreaming about Europe.
Prior to this holiday, I had never been to Europe-
unless you count the many hours I've spent there in my head.

The fiance, on the other hand, has been to several European countries-
England, Germany, Italy, etc.
Lucky man.

I didn't want to go somewhere that he had been before,
that just didn't seem fair.
So, my dream of visiting Germany or Italy was shattered (for now).
But, he suggested Spain.

It didn't take me long to agree.
Castles, tapas, cobblestone streets...
I was sold.

We had 10 days.
Picking the places we wanted to visit was HARD.
Granada was a no brainer- that was a must see.  That meant that Barcelona was out since we were flying into Madrid and it would have taken too long to travel from Madrid to Barcelona to Granada and back.

The fiance and I prefer smaller cities anyway, so we picked:
and a final day in Madrid.

My only regret is not making it to the small town of Ronda.
I hear it is incredibly romantic.

Maybe next time...

We arrived early in the morning on December 25th in Madrid.
First things first- get food.
What food? Paella.
Amazing, delicious, paella.
Sorry no picture, I was too busy eating.

Next- get on a train to Toledo.
Toledo was the original capital of Spain.

Place where my European Cathedral cherry was popped.  amazing.
The entire city was made of stone- or so it seemed.
Venison stew.
Cafe con leche at least every couple hours.

We spent two nights in Toledo,
and hopped on the high speed train to Segovia early in the morning on our third day.

Segovia is known for the Roman Aqueduct that still stands intact to this day.
The date of construction is not known,
but it's very very old.

I was interested in Segovia for 3 reasons:
The Aqueduct
The Alcazar of Segovia (castle)
and, the suckling pig that Spain is known for.

Segovia highlights:
The Aqueduct- seriously, pictures just don't do justice.
Lunch- tortilla espanola (best thing EVER) and fish soup.
Dinner- suckling pig, frogs legs and green salad.
The holiday markets.
Morning brunch provided by our hotel- my favorite!

It didn't take long for me to fall in love with Spain.
I remember wishing I could slow time or just never go home.

Part II next- Granada and Madrid.

travel itch

My travel itch is back,
I'm feeling a need to get out and see the world.

I have a very long list of places I want to see before I die.
Pretty much the whole world, if i'm being honest...

But, currently, my top choices would include,

Mt. Kilimanjaro and animal watching safari.
This would be a pretty pricey adventure.  Perhaps for our honeymoon.

Horses, gers (yurts), wide open spaces, isolation.
Also, I really want to adopt a Mongolian baby one day.

The fiance and I are hooked on scuba diving. More than anything, I want to scuba dive with a school of hammerheads and a school of dolphins- in the WILD.
We want to go on a 10 day scuba live aboard trip.
This will, most likely, be our honeymoon trip.

The fiance will be spending a lot of time in India over the next few years.  I've heard so much about it and can't wait till I can see this country for myself.

Because i'm obsessed.
What countries? all. but, if I had to choose- Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Netherlands, Scotland, Sweden, Greece, and Norway.
(I realize that is a very long list)

I really don't need to answer this question...

I really couldn't think of a more beautiful place in the world.

If you could travel anywhere right now where would you go??
Do you travel for adventure or relaxation?

Happy Wednesday!

If I was a fashion blogger...

You would probably see some of the following...

Here's the problem-
clothes cost money and,
I really suck at thrift store shopping.

So, unless I strike it rich, this little blog of mine will not contain much modeling from moi.

But, i do love clothes.
And when I actually have some green to spend, I sometimes even like shopping.

I have an obsession with,
leopard print
over-sized sweaters
big bags
and, leather jackets

You will never, ever see me wearing fur or liking fur.
Fur is disgusting.

Sometimes I like color,
other times I prefer black, white, and grey.

I like comfortable.
So leggings are a big deal,
as well as flats.

One day, I will learn how to sew, so that I can make my own clothes.

If you were a fashion blogger,
what would you wear?
